Cruising Romblon – 3 Day Bliss in Tablas Island
3 Day Bliss in Tablas Island
Tablas is the biggest and one of the major isles in the Romblon group of islands. It’s the halfway point of the Cruising Romblon tour for us too. Join me as I recount the places and activities that filled my 3 day bliss in Tablas:
Started with a boat ride: From Romblon Island we took a 1.5 hour boat ride via Montenegro Lines to San Agustin. We then had a ‘party jeep’ take us on a head banging, body limbering 3.5 hour ride to the town of Alcantara. Also note the smoking and selling of cigarettes ban in the entire Tablas island so bring your supplies handy if you have this habit.

Checked in at the Aglicay Beach Resort: We stayed in this unexpectedly homey and breathtakingly beautiful resort in Barangay Comod-om, Alcantara. Rates for room sizes at beachfront to hillside varies. There’s so much to explore and activities to do in this vast, almost secluded resort. Seeing is believing, check out these shots from the PHILTOA members:

Fascinated with Ferrol: We made our way to the tranquil beaches in Ferrol, specifically in Binucot. The panoramic view of the sunset is simply breath-taking! Lots of things to do here from beach bumming, diving and turtle watching/hatching so better plan your itinerary wisely and who knows you might stumble on of those manatees and leatherback turtles!

This is the pride of Tablas Island and it’s slowly gaining popularity throughout the years. You’d understand why eh?
![Bunsoran Pawikan Hatchery](http://outoftownblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Bunsoran-Pawikan-Hatchery-600x450.jpeg)
Bunsoran Pawikan Hatchery: Also near Binucot beach, this hatchery is home to 5 sea turtles in their near extinction. The usually hatch here in February- April and they release the younglings back to the sea.
Had a grand time in Looc Bay Marine Refuge and Sanctuary: We had a briefing at the tourism office where you can also rent snorkeling gears near the port. We have full on details of the sanctuary here. This is one venue you shouldn’t miss in Looc.

Food trip in tilts: To cap off the excitement of the days activities, we ‘re-fueled’ at Patok S Bagto Seafoods and Bulalo Located in Guinhayaan. It’s built on a fish pen area. You can fish fresh produce here and have them cook it or order off the menu if you’re too tired. It’s a definite food exprerience goal.

The municipality of Odiongan: Looks like the center of Tablas with its hustle and bustle. This is where the tourism / souvenir shop is located.
![Padayon Odiongan](http://outoftownblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Padayon-Odiongan-600x450.jpg)
The municipality of Santa Fe: The tallest elevation in the town is Mount Calatong believed to be home of enkantos Maka-ako. Anito of Tablas. If you see a golden ship, it mean something drastic / fatal will ensue.

Overall, Tablas probably has the scarcest tourist which means that most beaches are deserted and quiet. If you can spare 3 days, go and visit Tablas next!
This Cruising Romblon trip was made possible by PHILTOA, DOT Region 4-B, Romblon Provincial Tourism office and 2GO Travel.
